The program supports vessel construction, purchase, and refit; combining of enterprises and licence acquisition; and certain refinancing tied to fixed assets and fish licence acquisition. Support includes government loan guarantees, patient low-interest down payment loans, and interest payment rebates for the first five years of the loan.
Eligibility
Independent fish harvesters in Newfoundland and Labrador may apply through eligible financial institutions for financing related to vessels, enterprise combinations, licence acquisitions, and eligible refinancing.
Requirements
- Applicant must be an eligible independent fish harvester in Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Financing must support eligible vessel-related items, enterprise combinations, licence acquisition, or eligible refinancing.
- Applicant must work with an eligible financial institution for the guaranteed loan component.
