About this program
The Downtown Whitby Building and Fire Code Improvement Grant helps offset the cost of eligible building, fire, and accessibility-related code improvements for commercial and mixed-use properties. The incentive supports rehabilitation and reuse of older downtown buildings so they can safely accommodate business, residential, or mixed-use activity.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants are property owners or authorized tenants of eligible Downtown Whitby properties completing approved building or fire code improvements.
Requirements
- Property must be in the Downtown Whitby Community Improvement Plan area.
- Applicant must apply before starting eligible code improvement work.
- Work must be eligible building code, fire code, or related safety and accessibility improvements.
