Saskatchewan Petroleum Innovation Incentive (SPII)
Provincial royalty credit of up to 25% on eligible commercial-scale petroleum innovation projects in Saskatchewan.
About this program
The Saskatchewan Petroleum Innovation Incentive (SPII) provides a transferable royalty credit on Saskatchewan oil and gas royalties for eligible commercial-scale petroleum innovation projects. The incentive applies to the first commercial application in Saskatchewan of a novel petroleum-related technology, generating royalty credits typically up to 25% of approved project costs (subject to program caps and conditions). SPII supports innovation in upstream oil and gas, including enhanced oil recovery, helium, lithium, and emerging energy technologies. The credits are transferable, allowing them to be sold or used to offset royalty obligations.
