Saskatchewan Technology Startup Incentive (STSI)

Non-refundable 45% provincial tax credit for Saskatchewan investors backing eligible Saskatchewan tech, cleantech, and life sciences startups.

About this program

The Saskatchewan Technology Startup Incentive (STSI) offers a non-refundable 45% provincial tax credit to Saskatchewan-based individual and corporate investors who invest in Eligible Startup Businesses (ESBs). Each ESB can raise up to $2 million through the program. Investors can earn up to $225,000 in tax credits per annual investment and claim up to $140,000 per tax year. The annual program cap is $7 million (doubled in 2024-25 Budget), allocated first-come, first-served. The program was originally for digital tech, expanded to cleantech in 2024, and expanded again in April 2026 to include life sciences (agricultural biotech, therapeutics, medical devices, genomics, digital health). Since 2018, STSI has helped 128 companies raise more than $122 million in private investment.
