About this program
The City of Vancouver supports Business Improvement Areas as local commercial district organizations that collect member-approved levies and reinvest those funds into district improvements. BIAs can support marketing, streetscape improvements, safety initiatives, events, placemaking, business promotion, and other activities that benefit local businesses in designated areas. Although funding is generally generated through BIA levies rather than a direct city grant to individual businesses, BIA programs can provide localized financial and service support for commercial district vitality.
Eligibility
Businesses and commercial property owners located inside Vancouver Business Improvement Areas may benefit from BIA-funded district services and programs through their local BIA.
Requirements
- Business or commercial property must be located in an established Vancouver Business Improvement Area.
- Support must align with the local BIA's approved mandate, budget, and member priorities.
- Businesses must work through their local BIA for available marketing, placemaking, event, safety, or commercial district support.
