About this program
The Ignition Fund is PEI's most accessible startup grant, providing up to $25,000 in seed capital with no matching funds required from the applicant. Designed to help early-stage founders validate ideas, build prototypes, and launch innovative businesses on Prince Edward Island. Periodic intakes occur in spring and fall, with applications evaluated by a committee on factors including innovation, market potential beyond PEI, founder commitment, and realistic use of funds toward defined milestones. The grant is paid upfront as an advance, not as reimbursement.
Eligibility
PEI-based entrepreneurs (including sole proprietors) launching new innovative ventures or products. Must demonstrate genuine innovation, market potential beyond PEI, and commitment to building in PEI.
