Women Entrepreneurship Strategy (WES) and WES Ecosystem Fund

About this program
The Women Entrepreneurship Strategy (WES) is a federal initiative administered by ISED that invests in women-owned businesses across Canada, including in Ontario. The WES Ecosystem Fund provides funding to organizations that deliver training, mentorship, networks, and direct financial support to women entrepreneurs. The WES Loan Fund, delivered through BDC and partners, provides loans of up to $100,000 to majority women-owned businesses. WES Inclusive funds support women from intersecting underrepresented groups.
Eligibility
For ecosystem grants: not-for-profit organizations supporting women entrepreneurs. For business support: women entrepreneurs (typically 51%+ ownership) and women-led businesses in Canada. Specific eligibility varies by partner organization.
Requirements
- For business owners: locate a WES Ecosystem Fund grantee in Ontario
- For WES Loan: apply via BDC or a WES Loan Fund partner
- Provide business documentation including ownership structure
